Also, you can have the pleasure of joining one of Laurel's classes - every Wednesday morning at 8:30 am and the special Saturday "Warm up for the Party" class at 7pm!

Cabarete Kite Zones and Safety

24 June 08, by Laurel

The Association of Cabarete Wind Sports and the local Tourism Department representatives met earlier this week with the shared goal of making Cabarete Beach safer.

Main points include:

Kiting only downwind of Azzuro Hotel, leaving the upwind section of the Bay for windsufers and swimmers

Respecting the 50m - no kite zone - please no kiting close to the shore

Encouraging visitors to take lessons only from accredited kiteboarding centers that are operating officially inside the rules and regulations of the Dominican government.

Updated signs showing zoning, signs with a clear map of Cabarete Bay and the local rules, increased communication with independent kiters thru their hotel check in, Tourist Police training to help them enforce the rules and keep Cabarete safer, and a full scale media campaign are in the works....

Together we can keep Cabarete Bay safe for everyone!

For for info see the article below and thanks to John Bryja from SBC Kiteboard!
